Proving Home Oxygen is Reasonable and Necessary
January 24th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. CST
Presenter: Ronda Buhrmester
The oxygen medical policy (LCD) lists five conditions that must be met in order to prove home oxygen therapy is reasonable and necessary. Seems so simple, five boxes to check, right? At least it appears to be that simple, but we know there is always more to the story when interpreting the five criteria needed to get an oxygen claim paid. The bottom line is that it is time to discuss the oxygen policy in order to make sure there is proper understanding of the rules. There is a good deal to discuss during this webinar, which means bring the staff together, have questions prepared, and be ready to take notes.

Change In Orders Means New Acronym SWO
January 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. CST
Presenter: Ronda Buhrmester
The new year is off to a good start for the DMEPOS industry. There are changes to the order requirements, making it one type of order called the Standard Written Order (SWO). All the other types of orders are being eliminated (5EO, 7EO, DWO, DWO, dispensing) for all DMEPOS effective Jan. 1, 2020. However, what does this mean for your business? What does this mean for referrals? Is a verbal order still allowed? Are there still ACA 6407 requirements?
In this webinar, Ronda:
- Reviews changes to the order requirements
- Identifies the elements required on a Standard Written Order (SWO)
- Discusses which products require an order prior to delivery and which require an order prior to claim submission

Protect Your Supplier Number
February 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. CST
Presenter: Ronda Buhrmester
Complying with the Medicare Supplier Standards is the responsibility of all DMEPOS suppliers and is required to maintain an active supplier number. With ever-changing regulations, staff turnover, and a million other things you are tasked with on a day-to-day basis, sometimes even the basic information can slip by. Then one day, a notice is received in the mail by the National Supplier Clearinghouse stating your PTAN is suspended or even deactivated.
Ronda will review the supplier standards to ensure you are in compliance, including making sure to have the correct contacts listed, services offered are correct, and a few other reminders. Time will also be spent identifying situations that can put your number at risk and how to avoid them.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the importance of following the supplier standards.
- Prepare for the revalidation of your supplier number.
- Learn about potential risks to revocation.
