Seat Elevation became a covered benefit on May 16, 2023 and since then there have been several clarifications and updates. But none as big as the one coming in 2024. Recently, CMS announced the Second Biannual 2023 Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Public Meeting Agenda which is scheduled for Nov 30. The agenda contains their preliminary decision on seat elevation which contains the following preliminary decisions:
-Discontinue E2300
-Create one code for CRT seat elevation any type
-No code for heavy duty
-Preliminary payment decision $2,261.89 fee schedule amount
-Discontinue codes K0830 and K0831
-Create one new code for standard seat elevation any type
Final decisions are not made at the public meeting. CMS’s final coding, benefit category, and payment decisions will be published around February 2024 and will be effective April 1, 2024.
