OPGA has had a busy couple months with several initiatives, events, and planning for the rest of 2024 and beyond. As I am sure you have seen, OPGA has adopted the moniker, “Savings. Solutions. Something Bigger,” to represent our mission and offerings for our membership. We strive to live that mentality and have it be more of a compass point than just a slogan.
Recently, we have introduced several new supplier partners with more joining the portfolio in the coming months. We owe it to you to bring a great portfolio of supplier partners from every aspect of O&P – from clinical products by trusted companies to technology, to back-office support and everything in between. The SAVINGS you could realize from these suppliers is designed to increase your efficiency and ultimately your bottom line.
We very recently expanded our complimentary education to now include 20 courses that are all ABC and/or BOC certified for CEUS, as well as released the first in a series of webinars (which also includes CEU credits) from one of our supplier partners, Össur. Everyone in your office can take advantage of these complimentary CEUs. We have more webinars planned this year for the sole purpose of being one of your SOLUTIONS to your education needs – included in your OPGA membership and accessible through our members-only portal.
Finally, just a couple weeks ago I attended the AOPA Policy Forum in Washington D.C. Truly one of my favorite O&P events of the year, I was accompanied by Ike Isaacson from our VGM Government Relations division, as well as our 2024 O&P Grant Winners – Kelley Berk, CPO with Shamrock Prosthetics and Matt Jones, combined prosthetic/orthotic resident with Alabama Artificial Limb & Orthopedic Service. Special thanks to leadership at these clinics for allowing these two amazing grant winners time away to attend.
We joined many others in our field for advocacy education and the opportunity to meet with our legislators and staff to discuss the need for the Medicare O&P Patient-Centered Care Act. To me, this experience personifies being a PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER. It reinforces the “why” behind so much of the work that practitioners do every day – striving to make care more accessible and easier to receive for the patients they serve in the form of legislative change. It also helped to foster the spirit of advocacy in Kelley and Matt, which I know they will build on in their careers.
Keep an eye on the OPGA members-only portal, social media, and your inbox to stay up to date on how OPGA continues to not only use our tagline, but how we work every day to live by it.
As always, thank you for your continued loyalty to OPGA and what you do every day for our profession and the patients you serve.
Adam Miller
President, OPGA
