LiveWell Mobility and Modifications

LiveWell Mobility and Modifications is a company in Houston, Texas, that specializes in turning houses into homes for those with unique needs. Nate Davis, CEO of LiveWell Mobility and Modifications, sat down with VGM Live at Home to discuss their recent project with the Cobbs family. This project is a shining example of their dedication to enhancing lives through thoughtful home modifications.

The Cobbs Family’s Plight

The Cobbs family was confronted with a life-altering situation when 18-year-old Colton was involved in a devastating car accident on August 8, 2023, resulting in paralysis. Faced with new challenges, including mounting medical expenses and a home that was no longer suitable for Colton, they reached out to LiveWell Mobility and Modifications for assistance in transforming their home into a more accessible space to meet Colton’s new needs.

The Renovation Initiative

Understanding the urgency, the team at LiveWell Mobility and Modifications sprang into action. They meticulously planned and executed a comprehensive renovation that would not only meet Colton's accessibility needs but also provide comfort and a sense of independence.

The project entailed converting the underutilized formal living room and adjacent guest bedroom into a fully accessible primary suite designed for Colton, including:

  • A spacious bedroom tailored for ease of movement
  • An ADA-compliant bathroom featuring a zero-threshold shower and accessible fixtures
  • A large walk-in closet designed for accessibility.

Moreover, the team incorporated smart home technologies throughout the space to facilitate Colton’s autonomy, such as voice-activated controls for lighting, temperature, and entertainment systems, along with a state-of-the-art Google Home smart hub.

Support from the Community

Outside of the hard work of LiveWell Mobility and Modifications, the Cobbs family received heartwarming support from the community, including a GoFundMe campaign, donations from local businesses, and contributions from the company. Todd Cobbs’ active church community also provided support through volunteer work and material donations.

The Result

The project’s completion marked a new beginning for Colton and his family. The renovation was completed in a remarkable six weeks, transforming not just the space, but the Cobbs family’s life. The joy and gratitude they expressed upon seeing the transformed space were overwhelming. Colton now enjoys a level of independence he hadn’t experienced since his accident, and the Cobbs family have peace of mind knowing their home meets their son’s needs.

The successful completion of Colton Cobbs’ home renovation stands as a testament to LiveWell Mobility and Modifications’ mission. The project underscores the power of community and the impact of compassionate service, reaffirming the company’s commitment to improving lives one home at a time.

We are so proud to have Nate Davis and all at LiveWell Mobility and Modifications as part of something bigger with VGM Live at Home!
