Member Spotlight: 70 Years of Bringing Wellness Home

John P. Miller of Miller’s Rental and Sales, Inc.

When you own a small business, every anniversary is a time to celebrate. It means another year of success, another year of satisfied customers, and another year of helping those in need rediscover independent living. As anyone from Miller’s Rental and Sales, Inc. will tell you, the anniversaries don’t get any less jovial as time goes on. The company will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year – an outstanding achievement.

Miller’s provides both power and manual wheelchairs, scooters, CPAP and BiPAP equipment, home oxygen equipment, seat lift chairs, stair lifts, bathroom safety equipment, and many other aids to daily living that will enhance quality of life. The road to their current success has been winding, but a few changes in direction, three generations of proud family ownership, and an unwavering commitment to their values has made Miller’s a staple of northeast Ohio’s home access market.

Miller Group

“The company was founded in 1949 by my grandparents, Jack and Virginia Miller, as a party rental business,” said John P. Miller, president of Miller’s. “We expanded into home medical equipment with the passage of Medicare in the mid-60s. Then we started offering complex rehab in the 1970s, and that has evolved to become the largest part of our business. Home access was added in 1999 as a natural offering to meet the needs of our rehab mobility clients, and that division has expanded over the years and continues to grow. Miller’s now offers CRT, home access, and complex respiratory solutions for all of our clients.”

The full-service durable medical equipment company has four locations throughout the Buckeye State. And, with demographics suggesting significant growth in home access throughout the next 10 years, Miller’s is already looking forward to expanding their presence. By improving the customer experience and increasing awareness, the team at Miller’s believes they can continue to prosper within the industry.

“We have plans to increase our footprint throughout our current territory in northeast Ohio and will do so with larger, more experiential showrooms,” Miller said. “We want our prospective clients to have hands-on experiences before making their purchasing decisions. We’re also expanding our marketing efforts to drive cash business.”

While Miller’s may have found success, they haven’t lost sight of their vision – bringing wellness into the home. They draw on their proud heritage of excellence and caring to ensure each customer is satisfied. In fact, their desire to help is what continues to drive them today.

“The stories of rediscovered independence and freedom are extremely rewarding,” said Miller. “We know we are making a big impact on our clients’ lives.”

Miller provided a recent quote that a customer posted on their Facebook page, and the comment was nothing short of inspiring. It read, “Love ours. Installed in December 2018 and has provided us a whole new level (no pun) of safety and mobility allowing us to safely go up and down our stairs without fear of another fall! Thank you Miller's!”

Touching the lives of customers makes every day a fulfilling experience for the staff at Miller’s. However, that’s not the only great thing about being a part of a family-owned business. When asked about the best part of working for Miller’s, John had a simple response, “Through three generations we are still a family-owned company, and our family values are present daily. The staff at Miller’s is very caring and committed to our clients, as well as to one another. Our culture is strong and very supportive of the communities we serve.”

Join us in wishing Miller’s and their staff a happy 70-year anniversary!
