Letter from the Vice President, Jim Greatorex: February 2021

It seems like we just had the holidays, and now we are about to enter March. As we review the effects of 2020, we are seeing some trends come into play that will influence the home access industry. Sadly, the long-term care industry had a devastating year with many facilities being forced to close. This trend will result in more families looking for home care options and living arrangements, so our industry needs to be tuned into that new demand.
Another trend to be aware of is that with the economy being stressed in 2020, we will have a revisit to the construction market similar to what happened from 2008-2010. There will be lots of foreclosures, and new construction will slow considerably in 2022. The good news is that this trend will likely have very little effect on the home access industry as we will see extended growth in our segment for years to come. It may see many contractors migrate to this industry as they see those opportunities and result in either new competition or great potential additions to your team.
We will keep you posted on these trends as we navigate this year, so stay tuned.
Things to look for:
- Look for our report on the study we did on where our industry ranks in the important marketing aspect of Google Reviews and customer reviews in general.
- The latest VGM Playbook has our forecast of what will happen in the home access market in 2021.
- We will have an exciting announcement next month on a new manufacturer that will bring great value.
- Our Heartland Conference is still scheduled to be in person, and a final decision will be made in April. Either way, we have an excellent line up of home access tracks and training.
Thanks for being a Live at Home member, and we hope you finish the first quarter strong!
