As the clock ticks forward, we find ourselves nearing the end of the first quarter of 2025. This year is marked by a trailblazing pace of transformation and a kaleidoscope of opportunities waiting to be embraced. Change, often perceived as a daunting specter, should catalyze growth, innovation, and progress. In the spirit of the dynamic landscape in the home access industry, it's time to recognize that 2025 is the year to welcome change and seize the opportunities it brings.

I've always underscored the importance of resilience and adaptability in navigating uncertainty. The ability to pivot and thrive in the face of challenges for me is exciting and becomes a cornerstone of success. We can navigate the ever-evolving landscape with confidence and poise by fostering a growth mindset and embracing continuous learning.

Navigating the complexities of my community-based private therapy business over two decades was a journey of personal and professional growth. Facing the ever-changing landscape of federal funding and striving to bring a vision of holistic care into homes often felt like being a "starving artist."

The unpredictability of federal funding meant constantly staying informed about policy changes, advocating for resources, and creatively finding ways to sustain a much-needed in-home care specialty service. This journey required not only a deep understanding of the healthcare industry but also the ability to manage a business and make tough decisions under pressure. The lack of stable funding often meant working long hours, facing financial stress, and feeling the weight of responsibility for both my patients' well-being and the practice's survival.

However, it was in these moments of struggle that the true strength emerged. Developing innovative solutions to financial constraints, building a network of supportive colleagues, and finding new ways to deliver quality care became essential. The experience fostered a sense of resourcefulness and determination that only comes from facing and overcoming adversity.

Fast forward to my three years at the Jack Welch Business Institute, I discovered that I had learned much from experience from what his institute teaches today. Welch was a transformative leader during his tenure, and I was honored to have met him before his passing. Here are a few key principles to embracing change:

  • Clear Vision and Communication
  • Positive Energy and Optimism
  • Candor and Transparency
  • Every Brain in the Game

Throughout this year, I look forward to our journey together!

One of my favorite quotes is, "Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion," by Jack Welch.
