5 Ways To Promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month In The Workplace

Published in Women's Health on October 14, 2019

We are in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast Cancer awareness is everywhere, and for good reason. However, awareness isn't enough. Each woman's journey with breast cancer is different. Employers can play an important role in advancing the fight against breast cancer.

Employers can promote a better understanding of the distinctions of breast cancer by encouraging employees to share their stories. Be creative with fundraising. Go beyond the national fundraisers and walks. Encourage collaboration by offering a 50/50 match. Collect donations for local chemo center or non-profit organizations. Make workplace accommodations by making the challenge of cancer treatment more manageable. Give all women the information they need with treatment and what choices they have. Educate all employees about the basic facts of breast cancer. Statistics can be found at breastcancer.org.
