The bill that would repeal the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding program has reached the magic number of 216. Yesterday, Congressmen Thomas Petre (R-Wisc.), Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.), and Phil Hare (D-Ill.) signed on to H.R. 3790, bringing the total number of cosponsors to 215. With Congressman Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.) as the original sponsor, however, H.R. 3790 now has 216 House members signed on, heightening the chances of getting this bill to move forward.
VGM recognizes the outstanding efforts that providers and state associations have made to get support of this bill. But the fight is not over. Providers should continue to push for more cosponsors of the House bill and to move to get a Senate Companion Bill.
Continue to contact your representative if he/she has not signed on and begin contact your senators. Contact information may be found on the VGM DC Link at www.vgmdclink.com.
