Earlier this year, VGM scheduled a meet and greet with Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) to visit the VGM Corporate offices in Waterloo, Iowa. Today, VGM executives: Jim Phillips, COO; Jim Walsh president, VGM Group; Mike Mallaro, CFO/CIO; John Gallagher, vice-president, Government Relations; and Tom Powers, director, Strategic Media met with Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa). In their meeting, the group discussed the need to H.R. 3790 is scored by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to ensure budget neutrality. King, who signed onto the bill on March 9, agreed to ask Ways and Means Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-Mich.) to work with Acting Ways and Means Chairman Sander Levin (D-Mich.) and its Health Subcommittee Chairman Pete Stark (D-Calif.) to get a CBO score on the “pay-for” provision of the bill.
The group also discussed the recently-passed health care reform, the Affordable Health Care for America Act. The congressman stressed the need for “100 percent repeal” of the bill, as well as his concerns about the bill, which includes the medical equipment manufacturers excise tax that affects all medical equipment manufacturers.
